Holga Spain

Every once and a while someone will ask me what I'm working on. Well, since you asked, I've been printing (in the darkroom), toning and hand coloring a series of Hoiga photos from Spain and Portugal. I plan to have them up on my web site in the next couple of months. This photo is a preview.

Every once and a while someone will ask me what I’m working on or “how is the photography going?” Well, since you asked, I’ve been printing (in the darkroom), toning, spotting and hand coloring a series of Holga photos from Spain and Portugal. I plan to have them up on my web site in the next couple of months. This photo, made in Parque Del Buen Retiro, Madrid, is a preview.

Aloha!

Just back from a trip to Oahu where I focused my photographic attention on Waikiki Beach. I'll be posting some photos from the trip as I develop the film, make contact sheets an edit the images. Meanwhile, today's photo was made with Holga 120S. Printed on a newish photo paper, Ilford MG ART 300. It's a beautiful paper for Holga images. It's super textured, making it excellent for hand coloring. I took the photo last year on Waikiki Beach and hand colored it recently.

It was his first triathlon. Nervous and excited, he'd lost 70 pounds training.

Far Away

After nearly a week of frosty mornings I started thinking of warmer places. I recently prionted and hand colored this Holga photo. It was taken last fall along Route 44 on the Dominican Republic's southwest coast.

Kites

The two or three regular followers of his blog probably noticed that I haven't posted in awhile. Usually that means I'm off somewhere making photos and having a good time. Unfortunately that's not the case this time. I tweeked my neck a few weeks ago and finally had to stop everything no camera lugging, darkroom working or photoshopping. Happily, I enjoy reading on the couch. Anyway I'm on the mend and hope to be back to regular photo activities soon. I the meantime you have "Kites". I took this a few years ago at a kite flying contest and recently printed and hand colored it.

Weekend Doodle

This is a photo I made for "Photo a Day" in 2008. I recently made a nice print and applied some Marshall's photo coloring pencils and paint. The bits of color kind of punch things up a little and draw attention to the chalk drawings on the asphalt.

Weekend Doodle

I was sitting at my desk Saturday waiting for the rain to ease up so I could go out and make some photos. I've had this photo around in a couple of forms for more years than I care to say. Sometimes this happens. I'm undecided. Should I go further with this? Well, Saturday I was doodling and came up with this. And yes, the umbrella was pink!
